Mechanical Engineer: The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience, a Masters in Mechanical Engineering and familiarity with refrigeration concepts such as vapor compression and thermoelectrics. The candidate should demonstrate a solid theoretical knowledge in the following areas:

• Thermodynamics
• Fluid dynamics
• Energy transfers
• System modeling (Matlab, Maple, etc.)
• Optimization

More importantly the candidate will be a hands-on person who could design and build a mechanical prototype from scratch. The candidate should be able to:

• design novel mechanical concepts
• develop mechanical drawings using SolidWorks or AutoCAD
• evaluate and select components from various suppliers
• operate machine tools such as saw, milling machine, lathe, etc.
• assemble and test prototypes that include the following components:
  • pumps & valves
  • heat exchangers
  • piping and fittings

• Experience: Has worked full time / part time in a manufacturing setup. Expertise in manufacturing processes - can define a manufacturing process after understanding the design and tolerances. Has experience in sheet metal and other fabrication as well as system assembly work. Additional qualifications in quality and lean manufacturing will be preferred
• Position Description: The main activities the person will be involved in are as follows: Management The person shall be responsible for creating and managing a small facility for production and testing and shall have 2-3 direct reports in next few months and possibly a much larger team in the future. He would need to build the team to manage his activities going forward.
• Manufacturing: The person will take the basic product design from our R&D center in US and develop a complete manufacturing process and quality plan for it. This may involve working independently or together with a design consulting firm. The key task would be to manufacture parts in the most cost effective manner and with required quality.
• Vendor management: The candidate shall be responsible for identifying, qualifying and developing vendors to manufacture these parts throughout India and even abroad. He shall provide them all technical input in order to maintain the quality and technical correctness of the final product.
• Miscellaneous: Being a startup, a person may be required to take up other tasks in order to fill the holes. We promise that working with Promethean will be a lot of fun and a great learning experience. The job will involve even distribution of work in field and in the office. Some limited travelling for a few days in a month. Since the company is a start up, the person would need wear several hats and handle activities that are not in the description

• Qualifications Bachelors in electrical or electronics engineering with 3-5 years of full time experience. Diploma shall also be considered.
  Reasonably conversent in in English in addition to his native language. More languages, the better it is.
• Experience: Has worked in control panel manufacturing, electrical maintenance or as a service engineer for equipment in the past. He should understand the basic electrical / electronics, read drawings, understand basic mechanical stuff. Experience with PLC controllers and solar PV shall be greatly preferred.
• Position Description: The main activities the person will be involved in are as follows: Service and field work He would be responsible for maintaining equipment at site, supervising erection and commissioning and also training further engineers to do the same. He would be trained well along with our US team during the 1 month training stint in Tamil Nadu.
• Testing and lab work The person shall be responsible for setting up and running the testing facility in the lab in Pune. He shall manage the final functional testing of the equipment leaving for installation at site. Site management The person shall be confident of dealing with uncertainties and sudden surprises that may come up at site. He would be reaquired to recruit and manage local labor and also the customer requirements.
  We promise that working with Promethean will be a lot of fun and a great learning experience. The person will have huge responsibility and the freedom to do his work. The job will be heavily in the field and shall involve long stints (15-20 days in a month) onsite. However, he shall be given due rest and a break as and when possible.
