Thermal Battery: Promethean Power is developing a new type of battery: a thermal battery that stores and releases cold thermal energy. Our thermal battery acts like an electrical battery, but rather than supplying an electrical current, it supplies a stream of cold fluid. This fluid is then be used to chill food products, such as milk, down to 4 degC.
In developing countries, the majority of rural areas do have grid power, but it’s unreliable. Power outages occur daily due to load shedding restrictions or inadequate supply for the growing demand. Energy storage is essential in this environment. Our thermal battery takes advantage of any available grid power to re-charge itself using an automated refrigeration system and a proprietary combination of fluids and phase-changing materials (PCM).

Rapid Milk Chiller: our first product is a milk refrigeration system that eliminates the need for permanent diesel-generator backup. The product is designed for raw milk supply networks that operate in rural areas where grid power is unreliable. This complete, rural refrigeration system features our own patent-pending rapid heat exchanger that cools milk immediately to arrest bacteria growth and maintain milk quality according to international standards.
